App: Stride — Step Counter & Pedometer (stepcounter.pdometer.steptracker)

1. Information Stored on Your Device
The following is saved locally on your phone (in the app's private storage) and is not transmitted to us:
- Profile: name, sex, year of birth, height, weight, distance units, and step goal (used to personalize step, distance, calorie, and BMI calculations).
- Activity data: daily step counts and history, distance, calories, active time, streaks, and achievements.
- Health entries: heart-rate, heart-rate variability (HRV), stress and energy estimates, water intake, and weight logs.
- Preferences: reminders, language, sensitivity, and similar settings.
You can erase all of this at any time from your device's Settings → Apps → Stride → Storage → Clear storage, or by uninstalling the app.
2. Camera (Heart-Rate Measurement)
Stride can estimate your heart rate, HRV, stress, and energy by having you cover the rear camera and flash with your fingertip. The camera is used only for this measurement, in real time, on your device. No photos or video are recorded, saved, or transmitted. Only the resulting numbers (e.g., your BPM) are stored locally. These figures are estimates for general wellness and are not medical advice or a medical device.
3. Device & Motion Sensors
Stride uses your device's physical activity / step sensors (and the accelerometer as a fallback) to count steps. This requires the Activity Recognition permission. Step detection happens on your device; sensor data is not sent anywhere.
4. Permissions We Request and Why
- Physical activity (Activity Recognition): to count your steps.
- Camera: to measure your heart rate from your fingertip (never recorded).
- Notifications: to send the daily step and water reminders you enable.
- Foreground service / run in background / battery optimization exemption / run at startup: to keep counting steps reliably when the app is closed or after a restart.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings; some features will stop working without them.
5. Advertising and Consent (Free Version)
The free version of Stride shows ads (banner and occasional interstitial ads) served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect or receive information such as device identifiers (advertising ID), IP address, approximate (non-precise) location, and ad-interaction data, governed by Google's own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob / Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Your ad choices. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, Stride shows a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested, and you can choose whether ads may use your data for personalization. You can review or change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Ad privacy & consent. You can also reset your device's advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your device's Google settings.
Upgrading to Stride Premium removes ads entirely — no ad SDK requests are made while a Premium subscription is active.
6. Purchases (Stride Premium)
Stride Premium is an auto-renewing weekly subscription processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your name, address, or payment details; Google handles the transaction under its own terms and privacy policy. The app only learns whether an active Premium entitlement exists. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your Google Play account (Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions).
7. Data We Collect and Share
- We, the developer, do not collect, store, or sell your personal or health data on our own servers (we don't operate any).
- The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of ours.
- The only data shared with third parties is what Google AdMob and Google Play Billing receive as described in sections 5–6.
8. Children's Privacy
Stride is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data Security and Backups
Your data stays in the app's private, sandboxed storage on your device. Its security depends on your device's own protections (screen lock, encryption). If you have Android's device backup enabled, your app data (steps, profile, settings) may be included in the encrypted backup of your Google account; that backup is handled by Google, not by us. If you export your data yourself, keep that file safe.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page.
