This Privacy Policy explains what information the Cadence app (“Cadence”, “we”, “us”) handles, why, and the choices you have. By using Cadence you agree to this policy.

Summary (the short version). Cadence edits videos on your device. The videos, audio, and exports you create are not uploaded to us — we do not run a server that receives your media, and we have no user accounts. Your projects and settings are stored locally on your device. We use third-party services (Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Google Play Billing) that collect limited diagnostic, analytics, and advertising data, described below.

1. Information Processed on Your Device Only

  • Videos and audio you select. When you import a clip or an audio file, Cadence reads it to show a preview, decode frames/waveforms, and apply your edits. This processing happens entirely on the device.
  • Your projects and preferences. Edit settings (speed, curves, trim, background, audio, etc.) and app preferences (such as default export quality and watermark choice) are saved in local on-device storage.
  • Exports. Rendered videos are saved to your device's gallery/Movies folder.

Cadence accesses only the specific files you choose. This on-device data is not transmitted to us and is removed when you delete the project or uninstall the app.

2. Permissions and Why We Request Them

  • Photos and videos / Audio / Storage (READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, and on older Android, storage permissions): to import the media you pick and to save your exports.
  • Internet & network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): required by the advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, and billing services below.
  • Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING): to offer the optional Cadence Pro purchase through Google Play.
  • Advertising ID: the ads SDK uses your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure ads (see below).

3. Information Collected by Third-Party Services

We rely on the following services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy, and each may collect data such as device identifiers, an advertising ID, IP address, and usage or diagnostic information.

  • Google AdMob (advertising). Shows ads to users on the free tier. AdMob may collect your advertising ID, device information, and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads (personalized or non-personalized depending on your settings/region).   • Firebase Analytics (Google). Collects aggregated, app-usage analytics (e.g. screens viewed, features used, approximate session and device info) to help us understand how Cadence is used and improve it.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google). Collects crash and stability diagnostics (stack traces, device state, OS version, and limited installation identifiers) so we can find and fix bugs. Crash reports may include limited technical data but are not used to identify you personally.
  • Google Play Billing / Google Play Services (Google). Processes any in-app purchase of Cadence Pro. We do not receive or store your payment card details; payments are handled by Google Play.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data We (the Developer) Can See

Because there is no Cadence account or server, we do not directly receive your media. From the services above we can see aggregated and diagnostic information — for example, anonymous/aggregate usage statistics (Firebase Analytics), crash reports (Crashlytics), and ad-performance metrics (AdMob). We use this only to operate, secure, and improve the app.

5. Children

Cadence is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided such information, contact us and we will address it.

6. Data Retention

  • On-device data (projects, settings, exports) remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Diagnostic, analytics, and advertising data retained by the third-party services is governed by their respective retention policies.

7. Security

We rely on the Android platform's app sandboxing for on-device data and on the security practices of the third-party services for any data they process. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

8. Your Choices

  • Advertising: reset or limit your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (wording varies by device), and review ad personalization options.
  • Analytics/Crashlytics: uninstalling the app stops further collection.
  • Local data: delete a project in-app, or uninstall Cadence to remove all local data from your device.
  • Region-specific rights: depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access or delete data held by the third-party processors; contact us and we will help direct your request.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” above and posting the new version at the policy URL.
